Because we have so many acres and so many hogs we are confident enough to not charge our customers if we don’t put them within range of numbers of hogs. If the customer is any shot at all he shouldnt have a problem bagging all the pigs he or she wants.

As the evening sky glows crimson on the western horizon, a stir of life occurs in the canyons and juniper thickets along the Wichita and Brazos rivers in the Texas rolling plains. A whitetail buck materializes into an open glade to browse on lote bush and tiny forbs not yet killed by the first frost of autumn. In a distant canyon a pair of coyotes inspect a rat midden in hopes of an early evening meal while only a short distance away, deep in the underbrush along the banks of a muddy arroyo, another creature stirs in anticipation for the nightly hunt.

With ears alert and nose testing the wind a 175 lb feral boar listens intently at the sounds of the coming night, never fully trusting any odor or sound that is not indigenous to the landscape around him. Satisfied that all is well within his domain, he flops his ears loudly and trundles slowly up from his bed and into the tabosa grass and mesquite studded rangeland to start his night forage for food.
Feral hogs have been residents of the rolling plains for over three decades, roaming the hills and canyons along the rivers and creeks that meander through this big ranch country of north west Texas. A virtual eating machine in its waking hours, these tough and resilient animals are on the constant move, searching for forage to consume or a hot sow for breeding purposes. Mature boars, weighing in at 150 to 250 pounds are formidable in their appearance as the large powerful shoulders sloping to streamline hind quarters give the impression of a four legged athlete draped with a coat of long wiry guard hairs. A pair of ivory white tushes causing the lips to rise notably on the upper jaw gives this rugged animal an air of definace and is an absolute reason for second thought to any creature bent on battling this rogue monarch of the Texas plains.

With the tenacity of a bear and equal if not surpassing the lethality in fighting ability, the wild hog has become a symbol of hunting in almost all parts of the Lone Star State. Sometimes still hunted on foot by the rifle or pistol advocates but mostly hunted with the aid of well trained hog dogs, hunters will find Sus scrofa to be a quarry with a high degree of intelligence and endurance second to none.
